Hospital Quality Care Data
A
new government Website, Hospital
Compare, allows consumers to gauge
how consistently hospitals provide specific treatments to compare
the quality of care at hospitals across the country.
The U.S. Department
of Health & Human Services selected measures
proven to improve outcomes for three common health problems – heart
attack, heart failure and pneumonia – as the starting point for
consumers. Health & Human Services plans to increase the number
of treatments it measures.
While Memorial Hermann has focused on clinical quality improvement
for many years, ongoing quality initiatives throughout our organization
continue to raise our standard of excellence.
We support increased transparency and accountability for healthcare
quality performance and are committed to using this measurement tool,
along with others, to help us maintain clinical excellence.
Hospital
Compare posts information on ten quality measures based on data hospitals
are required to report to the government.
It also posts
data on another seven optional measures. It’s important to note
that the data reported on the Website is at least one year old.
