PET/CT Imaging at Memorial Hermann

PET/CT Imaging at Memorial Hermann

An imaging tool that blends two state-of-the art technologies in one simple test, the PET/CT is fast becoming the procedure of choice for everything from cancer to neurology to cardiac care.

Even more amazing, the entire imaging procedure itself takes less than 30 minutes. Memorial Hermann now provides this advanced imaging technology at six of its area hospitals.

Using of PET/CT imaging, physicians can make more accurate diagnoses, identify problems in their early stages and develop targets for treatment plans. PET/CT also can show how advanced a disease has become.

PET/CT scans merge metabolic detection with computerized imaging to precisely identify problem areas in the body. PET, or positron emission tomography, provides the metabolic information. The computed tomography (CT) scan simultaneously takes multiple images to create a map of the body. This helps pinpoint the location of cancerous tumors or metabolic activity in the brain.

Along with providing better imaging data, this single, noninvasive scan notably increases patient comfort and convenience by reducing scanning time. This procedure is covered by most private insurance plans and Medicare.

PET/CT is currently available at:
