Spiritual leadership focuses on the fundamental importance of values
and spirit for personal and organizational growth. The
Spiritual Leadership Institute was founded in 1996 by Memorial
Hermann Healthcare System with the guidance of then-President Dan S.
Wilford.
The impetus behind
this endeavor was the view that conventional management methods in
organizational and community leadership were failing to address substantial
spiritual needs in healthcare and most other workplace environments.
The Spiritual Leadership Institute frames the discussion of values
through the concepts of ethics, trust, vision and spirituality. Organizations
should commit to these concepts to attract the right people and to
give them a clear purpose when striving to achieve greatness.
