Treatment for Gynecological Cancer
Gynecologic cancer is cancer of the female reproductive tract, including the cervix, endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus and vagina.
Memorial Hermann Cancer Centers provide advanced treatment for women with gynecologic cancer. Affiliated physicians, specially trained staff and nurses offer leading cancer care personalized to meet the specific needs of each woman with:
Susan was never notified of her irregular pap smear results. Watch what happened when she discovered she had vaginal cancer.
If your doctor learns that you have cancer, more tests will be done to see if the cancer has spread. This is called staging.
CT or MRI scans of the abdomen, pelvic area, chest, or brain may be used to stage the cancer. Sometimes, PET scans are also used. Blood tests to detect tumor markers, including carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and CA 19-9, may help your physician follow you during and after treatment.
Memorial Hermann is affiliated with oncologists that specialize in gynecological cancer. Affiliated gynecologic oncologists treat cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, gestational trophoblastic tumors, ovarian cancer, uterine sarcomas, vaginal cancer and vulvar cancer. We serve the greater Houston area and all of Southeast Texas.
