Residency Application Process

Application deadline is January 7th for both the PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs.

Applicants considered for a position will be invited for an on-site interview at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center during January or February. Applicants will be given a tour of the facilities and will have a chance to meet with the Residency Program Director, Administrative Director of Pharmacy Services, clinical pharmacy staff, and pharmacy residents.

Memorial Hermann recognizes the health benefits of a tobacco-free lifestyle as well as the special duty to maintain and promote a healthy and safe environment for our patients, visitors, physicians, and employees. In an effort to further this goal, Memorial Hermann will no longer hire individuals who use tobacco products in any form.

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Applicant Requirements

1. A strong academic record and demonstrate a desire for professional accomplishment.

2. Graduated from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree by the start of the residency year (July 1st annually).

3. Entry-level knowledge and skills equivalent to that which would be expected of a recent doctor of pharmacy or other appropriate advanced degree candidate.

4. Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Texas

  • See the Texas State Board of Pharmacy website for licensure requirements.
  • All residents MUST be licensed within 90 days of the residency start date.

5. Registered with ASHP Residency Matching Program.

To apply for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency:

1. Submit the following via email to brian.gulbis@memorialhermann.org

2. Have three Letters of Recommendation submitted on your behalf

  • Letters should be submitted by the person writing the recommendation and sent via email to brian.gulbis@memorialhermann.org
  • At least two of the letters should be written by clinical preceptors.

3. Submit your current, official transcript of pharmacy school coursework / clerkships

  • Transcripts should be sent directly from the school or mailed by the applicant in an envelope sealed by the school.
  • Submit the transcripts to:

PGY2 Critical Care Residency Applicant Requirements

1. A strong academic record and demonstrate a desire for professional accomplishment.

3. Completed a one-year PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.

4. Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Texas

5. Registered with ASHP Residency Matching Program.

To apply for the PGY2 Critical Care Residency:
