Meet Our Program Directors and Preceptors
Memorial Hermann is one of the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas and serves the greater Houston community through 13 hospitals and specialty programming in the tertiary, community and ambulatory settings. Within this unique integrated delivery network, residents will have access to health system leadership at all levels within the division of pharmacy and throughout the enterprise.
Memorial Hermann prides itself in offering pharmacy services on the leading edge of technology, extensive clinical programs, shared system formulary, with interdisciplinary collaboration utilizing several innovative pharmacy practice models. Residents can expect rotation offerings in multiple hospitals and care delivery sites including longitudinal experiences within the office of the Division of Pharmacy System Executive.
The Health-System Pharmacy Administration (HSPA) Residency is a 24 month program with concurrent enrollment in the M.S. Pharmacy Administration program offered by the University Of Houston College Of Pharmacy. The residents PGY1 and PGY2 years are designed to allow the resident a full pharmacy practice and pharmacy administration experience, while balancing the didactic requirements of the MS degree. Residents will be challenged with rigorous clinical training in a variety of specialties throughout our health system, across many patient care areas and hospital acuities. Strategic planning, policy creation, and project management are basic elements for both clinical and administrative rotations. The electives offered allow for customization of the residency experience to fit the resident's learning needs and career aspirations.
Upon completion of the residency program, the resident will have acquired professional, clinical, administrative and didactic competencies needed to assume leadership roles in pharmacy administration in the health system and hospital setting.

- Meetings: Financial support is offered to attend ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the ALCALDE/TSHP Meeting. Opportunities to attend other professional meetings are made available at the discretion of the program administrator

Requirements

Graduated from an ACPE- accredited college of pharmacy; a Pharm D is preferred but not required

Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Texas

Registered with ASHP Residency Matching program and the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application (PhORCAS)
