Residency Curriculum

The residency’s advanced didactic curriculum is delivered by clinicians with Memorial Hermann in collaboration with Texas Woman’s University- Houston. Collaboration with world renowned physicians and other healthcare providers is coordinated through a partnership with UT Health Houston Medical School. The curriculum is based on the Description of Specialty Practice (DSP) for Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy, meets the requirements set by the American Board for Residency and Fellowship Education, and is divided into three semesters.

Fall

  • Lower Quarter Module (Lumbar Spine, SI/Pelvis, Hip, Knee, Ankle, and Foot)
  • Pharmacology
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Clinical Research for the Resident

Spring

  • Upper Quarter Module (Cervical and Thoracic Spine, Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, and Hand)
  • Independent Study- Clinical Research

Summer

  • Special Topics: Return to Sport, Advanced Therapeutic Exercise, Healthcare Administration, Vestibular Rehabilitation and Concussion Management
  • Clinical Instruction of a PT Student
  • Collaboration with the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute’s Human Performance Team
