A Letter from our President & CEO Regarding Cigna Insurance

To our patients and families,

We appreciate you choosing Memorial Hermann as your healthcare provider. Serving this community for more than 110 years is our greatest pride, and remains our greatest focus.

Cigna has informed Memorial Hermann that effective March 16, 2020, patients and families who carry Cigna insurance will no longer have in-network access to Memorial Hermann facilities or our affiliated physicians. We remain open to working with Cigna to avoid disruption in care for our patients and families past this March 2020 date. It is important to note that, at this time, there is no change for our patients who carry Cigna. Any changes would not be effective until March 16, 2020. Patients with Cigna’s Medicare Advantage plans are not impacted at this time.

It is Memorial Hermann’s commitment – first and foremost – to serve the needs and best interests of our community. Our continued focus is to provide patients with accessible, lower-cost care along with exceptional outcomes and experiences. The changes Cigna is demanding we make to our current agreement would compromise our ability to deliver the highest quality care for which we are known. As our region’s largest health system and a trusted care provider, we refuse to make that sacrifice.

Memorial Hermann remains hopeful that we can continue to partner with Cigna in making Houston a healthier place today, and far into the future.

In the meantime, I know you may have questions regarding this possible change, and we promise to keep you apprised of any significant updates, which will be made available here on our website.

We greatly value you as a patient and encourage you to contact Cigna directly to tell them you want to keep Memorial Hermann Health System and our affiliated physicians in your network. You may reach Cigna Corp. President and CEO David Cordani at david.cordani@cigna.com.
