Working in healthcare can be stressful. Your colleagues are here to listen. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call the National Suicide Lifeline at 988 or Spring Health at (855) 629-0554 (option 2 for crisis support).
Our mission is to provide compassionate, confidential, and timely peer-to-peer support to members of Memorial Hermann’s workforce experiencing stressful patient or work-related events.
Code Lilac is a multidisciplinary, trained, peer-to-peer support team that provides timely emotional support to workforce members who have experienced stressful patient or work-related events. Code Lilac volunteer peer responders represent many disciplines within our System and are trained in psychological first aid to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental, non-punitive and confidential support.
Any member of our workforce may request support either for themselves or a colleague in instances where the team has been impacted by an adverse event. Workforce members include Memorial Hermann employees, affiliated physicians and providers, EMS, medical and nursing students, Environmental Services partners, Food and Nutrition Services partners, volunteers and other members across the System.
Code Lilac can provide support following a variety of difficult situations, such as the following:
Code Lilac volunteer peer responders provide timely emotional first aid support either in-person at our participating hospital Campuses, or virtually for anyone throughout the System via our hotline.
*For requests for onsite support for staff located at Memorial Hermann outpatient locations after a critical incident, please call the hotline and request to speak with the Code Lilac Administrator on Call (AOC) for assistance in coordinating a staff-care response.
