A native of South Africa, Dr. Robert Davis
received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in
Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his internship and residency at Albert
Einstein College of Medicine in New York and The University of Texas Medical
Branch in Galveston.
certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Davis specializes in
laparoscopic bariatric and general surgery. He has proctored and trained
extensively in laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch
procedures and weight loss surgery revisions. He often is asked to train other
surgeons across the country in these procedures.
and his son, Dr. Garth Davis, have performed over 2,500 bariatric procedures
since 2002, and their expertise in the field of bariatric medicine is
world-renowned. His additional clinical interests include breast, endocrine,
gastrointestinal and hernia surgery. Dr. Davis appeared along with his son in
the primetime docu-reality medical series, Big Medicine on various cable channels around the
Dr. Davis is a past Associate Clinical Professor
of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and a Fellow of the American College
of Surgeons (FACS), and the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS). He is a member in
good standing of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
(ASMBS) and the International Federal for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO).
