Dr. Michele M. Johnson is a fellowship-trained,
board-certified neurosurgeon who is an expert in complex and minimally invasive
spine surgery and in disorders of the spinal cord, including spinal trauma and
spinal tumors. Dr. Johnson has co-authored and published numerous papers
included in the Journal of Neurosurgery Spine, Journal of Neurotrauma,
Science, and Genetics.
Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the
UTHealth Medical School and is Director of Spinal Trauma at Mischer Neuroscience
Institute. She is a native Texan, born in Kingsville, Texas. She graduated from
the University of Oregon with Honors in Biology, and received her medical
degree with honors at Yale University of Medicine before completing her
neurosurgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition,
she completed a spine surgery fellowship under Dr. Gerald Rodts at Emory
University in 2008.
