Dr. John Sunew, MD

Dr. John Sunew, who grew up in Scarsdale, New York, earned his medical degree at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate in Brooklyn. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at George Washington University in Washington, DC, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at George Washington University and a second fellowship in interventional cardiology at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Sunew, who has been in practice since 1994, is board certified in three areas: cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He sees patients ages 18 and older.

His primary clinical interests include interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease. peripheral arterial disease, venous disease and pulmonary embolism. He performs advanced procedures such as angioplasty and transradial cardiac catheterization, a method that leads to fewer complications and improved comfort for patients. He also utilizes radiofrequency ablation to treat venous disease.

Patients value his attention to detail, his willingness to take time with them, his skill in explaining things in understandable terms and his ability to make them feel comfortable.

A resident of Katy, Dr. Sunew enjoys jogging, singing and golf in his leisure time.
