Dr. Marlos Fernandes, MD

Dr. Marlos Fernandes earned his medical degree from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, followed by his fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine and the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography, Dr. Fernandes specializes in clinical and interventional treatment of cardiovascular diseases as well as endovascular treatment for peripheral vascular diseases and critical limb ischemia. He performs complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, including abdominal aortic aneurysm stenting and transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR).

Dr. Fernandes educates his patients about their cardiovascular conditions, preventive care and treatment options to help them make the best decisions that will lead to the best outcomes.  He makes himself accessible to his patients and provides individualized, evidence-based cardiovascular care. Dr. Fernandes treats patients 18 years and older and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.

He has authored several papers on interventional cardiology.
