Dr. Monica Bipin Patel earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. She completed an internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston.
Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, adult comprehensive echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, Dr. Patel specializes in the realm of preventive medicine and cardiovascular imaging, which includes echocardiography, vascular imaging, nuclear imaging, cardiac PET scan and cardiac computed tomography.
Dr. Patel interacts and treats patients daily in her role as a cardiologist affiliated with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. Since 2010, she has served as an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at McGovern Medical School. In June 2012, she joined the Weatherhead PET Imaging Center as a co-investigator to the CENTURY Health Study, which is aimed at the prevention or reversal of coronary heart disease by intense, combined pharmacologic and lifestyle treatment. She serves as the associate program director of the cardiovascular disease fellowship and is actively involved in the training of future cardiologists.
