What Are Clinical Geneticists?

Clinical geneticists responsibilities and daily activities consists of diagnosing and treating patients with genetic disorders. They are responsible for screening inherited or hereditary diseases occurring due to variations in the DNA. They detect disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, thalassemia, cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease through clinical genetics screening and are able to determine the risk of inheriting such conditions. Along with a team of genetic counselors, they not only diagnose, but also advise and treat various cancers related to genetic alterations. ll our clinical geneticists are board eligible or board certified in genetics and have successfully completed a fellowship in clinical genetics as well as an internal medicine residency following formal education in medical school.
