Dr. Reshma Markan, MD

Dr. Reshma Markan earned her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. She completed her internship and residency and a fellowship in endocrinology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Markan has been in practice since 2008. A fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, she is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology. Her primary clinical interests include type 1 and type 2 diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy (gestational diabetes), thyroid disease, thyroid cancer, hyperparathyroidism, adrenal disease, hypogonadism in males, menopause, pituitary and bone disease, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and weight loss management. Dr. Markan treats patients 18 years and older and speaks Hindi and Punjabi.

Her practice philosophy is based on trust and mutual respect. She focuses on good communication, treats patients with compassion and provides them with the latest treatment options and interventions. She believes that a large part of successful treatment is taking the  extra minutes necessary to truly understand a patient’s challenges in managing an illness.

A resident of Bellaire, Dr. Markan is married and the mother of two children. Her favorite leisure activities are reading, traveling and gardening.
