Dr. Jyoti Rao, MD

Dr. Jyoti Rao earned her medical degree at Andhra Medical College in India. She completed both her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

In practice since 1987, Dr. Rao is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. She specializes in gastroenterology (disorders of the digestive system) and hepatology (diseases that affect the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas).

She is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Society of Gastroenterology, Texas Medical Association and Harris County Medical Society.

Dr. Rao credits her parents, who always had open arms for those in need, for instilling in her the qualities of caring and helping. Working in the challenging specialty of gastroenterology has given her a chance to put their example into action. In her practice, patients come first, and listening to them with honesty, compassion, respect and understanding is of primary importance.
