Native Houstonian Dr. Nathaniel Avila earned his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He completed his residency in internal medicine at McGovern Medical School and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Dr. Avila has been in practice since 2013. He is experienced in ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography, a procedure used to examine diseases of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas); Spy Glass (imaging for the biliary duct system); EMR (gastrointestinal endoscopic mucosal resection, a procedure to remove early-stage cancer and precancerous growths from the lining of the digestive tract); and Barrett’s Esophagus Ablation. He also performs routine gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedures.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
