Dr. Paul Mauk, MD

Dr. Paul Mauk graduated from Rice University with a bachelor’s in biology and he earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at BCM, where he was chief resident, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology, also at BCM.

Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Mauk has practiced medicine in Houston since 1980. He specializes in gastroenterology.

His patient philosophy is to provide the best patient care, with the most advanced techniques, in a comfortable environment. He believes that communication is a key factor to each patient’s wellbeing and takes the time needed to explain their conditions and treatment options. His office staff members speak Spanish and Vietnamese.

Dr. Mauk has served on the clinical faculty at BCM and in other positions, including chief of staff, chair of the department of Gastroenterology and Medicine, chair of endoscopy and special procedures. He also served as chair of endoscopy and gastroenterology at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.  A published author in medical professional journals, Dr. Mauk has been honored with multiple physician recognition awards and has held executive positions in professional medical societies. 

Dr. Mauk and his wife have two children. While not taking care of his patients, he likes to spend as much time as possible with his family.
