Dr. Steven Ugbarugba earned his medical degree at the University of Benin School of Medicine in Nigeria. He did his internship and residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he was named Best Resident in 1999. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the State University of New York in Brooklyn.
Board certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Ugbarugba has been in practice since 2000 and treats patients 18 years and older. His primary clinical interests are colon cancer, hepatitis C and hepatobiliary disease. He also treats irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, constipation, acid reflux disease (GERD) and hemorrhoids.
Dr. Ugbarugba is noted for his compassionate, empathetic and holistic approach to total care, as well as for his thoroughness in evaluating each patient.
Married and a resident of Houston, Dr. Ugbarugba enjoys soccer, ping pong and reading in his leisure time.
