Dr. Sheilendra Mehta, MD

Dr. Sheilendra S. Mehta graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School. He completed his residency in general surgery with honors at Staten Island University Hospital in New York. He completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery research at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Board certified in surgery, Dr. Mehta has clinical interests that include laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, anti-reflux surgery, colorectal surgery and advanced endoscopy. In practice since 2004, he treats patients from 16 years of age.

Fluent in Guajarati and Spanish, Dr. Mehta is dedicated to providing his patients with state- of- the- art surgical therapies and using the least invasive, most advanced and safest techniques.

Dr. Mehta is an assistant professor of minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He belongs to professional societies including the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

A resident of Houston, Dr. Mehta enjoys photography, soccer, traveling and running. He ran the Houston half-marathon and plans to participate in more.
