A native Houstonian, Dr. Tamara Saunders earned her medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in San Antonio. She returned to Houston for her surgical internship and residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
Board certified in surgery, Dr. Saunders has been in practice since 2010. Her clinical interests include breast disease either benign or cancerous.
Dr. Saunder’s care philosophy focuses on educating her patients on their condition, so they can be actively involved in decisions on their treatment. She develops personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s unique condition. She believes in open communication and strives for excellent outcomes.
Dr. Saunders is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Surgical Society. Dr. Saunders and her husband have three children. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, traveling, running, skiing and, most of all, spending time with her family.
