Dr. Gary Sheppard, MD

Dr. Gary Sheppard earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and affiliated hospitals.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Sheppard has practiced in southwest Houston since 1993. His clinical interests include hypertension, diabetes and preventive medicine. He has served as chief of staff of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and chaired the Harris County Medical Society Board of Ethics.

Dr. Sheppard believes in prevention through diet and exercise and early treatment to prevent complications, empowering his patients, who are 18 and older, to improve their overall health. He recognizes that all patients are different and approaches them as individuals, making decisions, treatments and recommendations through evidence-based medicine adjusted to individual problems and situations.

A resident of southwest Houston, Dr. Sheppard enjoys music (piano and handbells), traveling, theatre, movies, football and basketball.
