Dr. Guy Burrows is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in sleep medicine and peripheral nerve disorders.
Dr. Burrows received his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. After his internship in family practice at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, he went on to complete his residency in neurology at Wilford Hall Medical Center, a United States Air Force medical treatment facility at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. At Wilford Hall he was president of the house staff, a member of the board of directors, and chief resident. He completed a fellowship in neurophysiology and peripheral nerve disorders at the same institution.
Dr. Burrows has served as a general medical officer and flight surgeon at Fairford Air Force Base in Fairford, United Kingdom; as flight surgeon at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Illinois; and as wing surgeon general and chief flight surgeon in Oman during Operation Desert Storm, where he oversaw a 1,000-bed hospital and clinics that included two prisoner-of-war camps. He later served as chief of neurology at Scott Air Force Base. From 1997 to 2009, he was a member of the medical staff at Southern Illinois Neurologic Institute in Belleville.
Prior to joining Mischer Neuroscience Associates, Dr. Burrows was in private practice in Beverly Hills and Palm Springs, California, with hospital affiliations at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. He provided immune-mediated polyneuropathy management, including IVIG treatments and pain management at both locations, and was involved in resident teaching at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
He is a past vice chair of the American Academy of Neurology’s Pain and Palliative Care Section and served as moderator of an AAN course during his term of service.
Dr. Burrows provides outpatient neurology services at Mischer Neuroscience Associates-The Woodlands, and has a special interest in treating the following disorders:
- Polyneuropathy, including IVIG treatment for immune-mediated management
- Gait disorders, including balance disturbance and limb neurologic entrapment disorders
- Botox® treatment for cervical dystonia and other spasticity disorders
- Botox® treatment for migraines and other neurologic pain disorders
- Sleep disorders
