What Are Neuropathologists?

Neuropathologists are physicians trained in making microscopic diagnosis of the diseases of the brain and the spinal cord by means of the study of a biopsy. The work of the neuropathologist is to aid in the diagnosis of various conditions that need pathological confirmation using tissue samples. They rely on the use of medical technology with various modalities of diagnostic imaging. They may study a biopsy of the skin to analyze nerve fibers of the skin. All neuropathologists registered on our panel are board-certified or board- eligible physicians who have completed a pathology residency and a fellowship in neuropathology.
