Houston native Dr. Emily Calasanz graduated with a degree in biology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. She earned her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center-Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Calasanz, who has been in practice since 2014, speaks Spanish. Her professional interests include comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology, adolescent gynecology and low- and high-risk obstetrics. She treats abnormal pap smears, menstrual irregularities, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, endometriosis, sexually transmitted diseases and uterine fibroids.
She performs IUD insertion/removal and minimally invasive robotic surgery, and she also provides well-woman exams, preventive care, family planning and contraception.
Dr. Calasanz has done volunteer work for the Health Museum and San Jose Clinic in Houston and participated in medical missions to Mexico and El Salvador. Her hobbies include cooking, music and traveling--particularly in Asia and Australia. She plays the piano, enjoys musicals and is a Houston Texans football fan.
