Dr. Putao Cen earned her medical degree at Sun Yat-Sen University in China. She completed residencies at Columbia University/St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, as well as a fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine, Dr. Cen’s clinical interests are in gastrointestinal cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastroesophageal cancer, liver cancer, neuroendocrine tumors and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). In practice in Houston since 2004, Dr. Cen treats patients 18 years and older and speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese. She has been recognized as a Top Doctor by U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. Cen’s practice philosophy is to treat her patients like her own family, providing them top-notch oncological care. She’s known for being easily accessible and easy to understand. As an academic clinician, she is able to utilize cutting edge technological advances in cancer care, including diagnostic imaging, immunotherapy and biological agents.
A resident of the Texas Medical Center area, Dr. Cen is the mother of a son and daughter. She is a competitive swimmer.
