Dr. Carlos Gonzales attended undergraduate school at Stanford and earned his medical degree from The University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, a residency in general surgery at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, and a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston.
Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Gonzalez has been in practice for more than two decades. He specializes in pediatric and adult strabismus, pediatric anterior segment disease, childhood cataracts, and eye diseases of the newborn, including retinopathy of prematurity. He also performs routine children’s eye exams. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
A resident of Houston, Dr. Gonzalez is married to an emergency medicine physician. They have four sons.
