A native of Taiwan, Dr. Kai Chu grew up in Houston. She graduated from Rice University with undergraduate degrees in bioengineering and Asian studies before earning her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her ophthalmology residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a fellowship in glaucoma at the Columbia University Harkness Eye Institute in New York City.
Dr. Chu’s primary clinical interests are comprehensive ophthalmology, cataracts and glaucoma. She has been in practice since 2013 and is fluent in Mandarin. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Ophthalmologic Association and the Harris County Medical Society. Dr. Chu has presented her research at various national ophthalmology meetings and has published several articles in medical journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
In her leisure time, Dr. Chu enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She stays active with tennis, yoga, snowboarding and scuba diving, and has participated in the Houston Marathon.
