Dr. Kartik S. Kumar, M.D.
Dr. Kartik Kumar earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He completed an internship in internal medicine at New York University and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas, where he was chief resident. He also completed a fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, an institution recognized as the birthplace of pediatric ophthalmology.
Dr. Kumar serves as director of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the W.T. and Louise Moran Pediatric Eye Clinic. He is a clinical assistant professor at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School. He also chairs the Young Ophthalmology Committee for the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Kumar’s clinical interests are strabismus, pediatric eye disease, pediatric cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity and congenital ptosis. He treats patients up to 18 years old, as well as adults who suffer from strabismus.
In his practice, Dr. Kumar works with multiple physicians in various subspecialties to ensure each patient gets the best possible care. His practice philosophy is to take care of each patient as he would his own child. Parents and adult patients are able to reach him with concerns at any time.
A resident of Braes Heights, Dr. Kumar is married. His favorite leisure activities are seeing movies, trying various cuisines, and watching and playing sports, especially tennis and basketball.
