Dr. Dolores Diaz attended the University of St. Thomas and graduated from the University of Houston with an undergraduate degree in biochemical and biophysical sciences. She worked as an ophthalmic assistant before enrolling at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston where she earned her medical degree. Dr. Diaz completed her internship in internal medicine at UT Health San Antonio Medical School and its affiliated hospitals. She spent two years in patient and clinical research and completed her residency at UTHealth in Houston and the Hermann Eye Center.
Dr. Diaz is board certified in ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In practice for nearly three decades, she has helped author several medical bulletins and been involved in numerous research studies. Dr. Diaz has been active in the local medical community as a member of the Medical Advisory Board and Medical Governing Board of the East Houston Surgery Center, where she also served as interim medical director. She has also served on the credentialing committee of the East Houston Regional Medical Center.
She was honored as 2014 Woman of the Year-Ophthalmologist by Solo Mujeres magazine.
During her leisure time, Dr. Diaz likes skiing, hiking, traveling ad checking experiences off her list of “things to do in a lifetime.” She also enjoys spending time with family and spoiling her goddaughter.
