Dr. Susan Wittenberg earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where she also completed her ophthalmology residency. She underwent fellowship training in ocular immunology-uveitis at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
In practice since 2000, Dr. Wittenberg is board certified in ophthalmology. She specializes in the medical and surgical management of patients with uveitis and other autoimmune and infectious eye diseases. She also performs both cataract and pharmacological implant surgeries.
Dr. Wittenberg makes presentations to uveitis and autoimmune disease support groups throughout the United States. She currently lectures on uveitis and autoimmune and infectious eye disease to residents and fellows in both the rheumatology and ophthalmology programs at McGovern Medical School and to ophthalmology residents at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She has also published articles in various ophthalmology journals and is currently involved in research on the outcome of uveitis disease treatments.
Dr. Wittenberg is the mother of two grown children.
