Dr. Eric F. Berkman earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport where he was named the outstanding resident of the year. He then completed his spine and trauma fellowship in Basel, Switzerland.
Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Berkman has been in practice since 1996. He specializes in treating various orthopedic conditions of the shoulder and knee. His clinical interests include injuries and arthritis of the shoulder and knee.
Dr. Berkman’s patient philosophy is to get to know his patients and work with them to solve their problems. He offers comprehensive treatment and the utmost care to patients 13 years and older.
His aim is to restore freedom of movement and relieve the pain from diseased or degenerated joints.
The author of a number of medical articles, Dr. Berkman was voted by his peers as one of Houston’s Top Docs in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 by H-Texas Magazine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Society, Houston Orthopaedic Society, Texas Medical Association and Harris County Medical Association. He currently serves as an associate professor of orthopedics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston.
Dr. Berkman and his wife have two children. He enjoys playing golf, hunting and fishing in his free time.
