Robert H. Fain Jr., M.D.
Raised in Houston, Dr. Robert H. Fain, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He earned his medical degree, completed a one-year surgical internship, a four-year orthopedic surgery residency followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in sports medicine and knee surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Fain has practiced medicine in Houston since 1981. He specializes in sports medicine, specifically knee pain and injuries. His clinical interests include internal derangement of the knee, knee dislocation, sprain, tendinitis, jumper’s knee, patellofemoral pain syndrome (“runner’s knee”), ACL, ligament tear repair, meniscus injury repair, bursitis of the knee, kneecap surgery, cartilage removal, dislocated knee cap, osteoarthritis and Osgood-Schlatter disease.
Dr. Fain believes in a patient-centered practice. He values the patient-physician relationship with clear communication and respect by listening to the patients concerns and needs. He is committed to providing patients with care choices that are of the highest quality and consistent with current medical and orthopedic science and offers the most current specialized, advanced surgeries.
He treats patients from five years and older and is adept at explaining to patients their options for knee injury treatment in Spanish.
Dr. Fain served as team physician for the Houston Oilers from 1986 -1995 and is a member of the NFL Team Physicians Society. He is also a member of numerous local, state, national and international medical and orthopedic societies.
A resident of Houston, Dr. Fain enjoys snow and water skiing.
