A native Houstonian, Dr. Terry Clyburn graduated magna cum laude in science from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas and earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston (UTHealth) Medical School where he served as chief resident.
Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Clyburn specializes in total joint replacement. His clinical interests are in total knee and total hip replacement, shoulder joint replacement, elbow replacement, knee and shoulder arthroscopy. Dr. Clyburn works with his patients to ensure other treatment options have been exhausted or ruled out before surgery.
A professor of orthopedics at UTHealth Medical School, Dr. Clyburn was named a Top Doc in Texas by Texas Monthly for three years in a row from 2006-2009. He has authored numerous publications in peer reviewed journals, written two text book chapters and
holds six current patents.
Dr. Clyburn also serves on various committees of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
