Stavis completed his medical degree at Boston University in Massachusetts and
his internship and residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He
then completed fellowship training at Albany Medical Center in New York.
in ophthalmology, his clinical interest centers on treating difficult
strabismus (eye muscle disorders) in patients of all ages. In
practice since 1980, Dr. Stavis enjoys having a good conversation with his
patients and putting them at ease during an examination. He delivers treatment
to children with a fun-loving and kind attitude. He provides his patients with
written explanations of the medical diagnosis, treatment or surgical plan in
easily understood terms so they are clear as to his recommendations.
Dr. Stavis has
received the American Medical Association’s Physicians Recognition Award for
being a leader in new techniques for strabismus surgery. He uses the latest
proven techniques to solve the most difficult eye muscle problems.
A resident of
Houston, Dr. Stavis is married and has two adult children. In his leisure time,
he enjoys golf, playing the clarinet and saxophone as well as writing and
producing musicals and plays with his family.
