Native Houstonian Dr. Jessica Traver earned her undergraduate degree at Tulane University and her medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UT Health). She completed her internship and residency at Saint Louis (Missouri) University Hospital, a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado, and a second fellowship in sports medicine at Harvard University/Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Traver, who has been in practice since 2019, treats a broad range of pediatric orthopedic and sports conditions. She specializes in the treatment of young athletes, as well as pediatric trauma, growth plate injuries, ACL tears, patellar instability, ankle instability and osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) as well as other injuries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. She speaks fluent Spanish.

An NCAA Division I soccer player at Tulane, Dr. Traver later served as a team physician to the University of Massachusetts Boston and for the 2019 Boston Marathon. Her experience as a collegiate athlete and team physician has given her an exceptional perspective on treating young athletes and enabling them to return to their sports as quickly, but safely, as possible.

Dr. Traver also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School. Her special research interests include treatment of skeletally immature athletes, ACL injuries and psychological readiness for return-to-sport.
