Dr. Shilpa Pankaj, MD

A native Houstonian, Dr. Shilpa Pankaj earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston. She completed her pediatric residency through McGovern Medical School at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Pankaj has practiced medicine in Houston since 2009. She has particular interest in preventive healthcare in children, community pediatrics, asthma and breastfeeding.

Dr. Pankaj is in practice with her mother, Dr. Heena Thakkar, who is also a pediatrician. Dr. Pankaj takes a preventive approach to medicine, providing comprehensive care for children from birth to age 21. She values each physician-patient relationship and aims to treat her patients as family members. She speaks Spanish.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Pankaj served as Chairman of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Memorial Herman Greater Heights Hospital from 2013-2017. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Texas Medical Society, Harris County Medical Society and Houston Pediatric Society.

Residents of Bellaire, Dr. Pankaj and her husband have two little girls. In her free time, she likes running, swimming, traveling and spending time with her family.
