Dr. Luis Chug, MD

Dr. Luis E. Chug received his medical degree from Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Lima, Peru, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, New York. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine in Kansas City, followed by a fellowship in sleep medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Board certified in internal medicine, critical care, pulmonary disease and sleep medicine, Dr. Chug has practiced medicine since 2005. His clinical interests include sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and sleep disorders.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Chug provides individualized care to adult and geriatric patients using state-of-the-art medical therapy. He strives to educate his patients on their conditions and believes that the key to developing a quality relationship between patient and doctor is listening. His patients appreciate the way he takes time to listen to their problems and connect with them.

Dr. Chug was nominated for Physician of the Year in 2020 and 2021 by the American College of Chest Physicians and is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

A resident of the Heights, Dr. Chug enjoys jiu-jitsu, soccer, salsa dancing and spending time with his family. He and his wife have two children.
