Paresh Dhirajlal Patel, MD, FCCP, earned his medical degree from B.J. Medical College (BJMS) at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India. He then completed an internship and internal medicine residency with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), formerly known as University of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey (UMDNJ), at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City. Dr. Patel then completed further training through a pulmonary disease and critical care medicine three-year fellowship and a sleep medicine one-year fellowship at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, where he trained at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Board certified in sleep medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Dr. Patel specializes in asthma (bronchial asthma), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, chronic bronchitis), dyspnea, cough, allergic rhinitis (hay fever, seasonal allergies), bronchiectasis, lung cancer, smoking cessation, pleural effusion, pneumonia, recurrent bronchitis, advanced bronchoscopies, Denver or PleurX catheter for recurrent pleural effusion, sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome (RLS) and Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (REM sleep behavior disorder, RBD).
Since 2013, Dr. Patel has provided pulmonary and critical care for patients ages 18 and older as well as sleep disorder management for patients of any age.
