Dr. Salah Fares earned his medical degree from the University of Tishreen Faculty of Medicine in Latakia, Syria. He completed his residency with the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in Syria. In addition, he finished an internal medicine internship and residency and served as chief medical resident with Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center in Michigan. Dr. Fares went on to complete his pulmonology and critical care medicine fellowship and served as chief fellow (2014-2015) with the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

Board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, Dr. Fares is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Throughout Dr. Fares’ education and career, he has been honored with numerous recognitions, including being named WSU School of Medicine’s Resident of the Year for two consecutive years and the 2006-2007 Intern of the Year.

In his free time, Dr. Fares enjoys serving his community, volunteering, traveling and watching movies.
