What Do Radiologists Do?

A radiologist is a specialist skilled in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries with the aid of imaging techniques like X-Rays, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, and PET scan. A radiologist uses X-rays to diagnose conditions like pneumonia, fractures, and bone tumors to name a few. In case of emergencies, a radiologist might perform a CT scan to diagnose conditions like pulmonary embolism, cerebral hemorrhage, and appendicitis. An MRI might be performed to confirm the diagnosis of tumors, slipped spinal disc and for MRI-guided therapeutic procedures. Diseases of gallbladder, liver, lung, bones etc. are commonly diagnosed by a radiologist using PET scan. All radiologists in our directory are board-eligible or board-certified in radiology and have completed a radiology fellowship as well as internal medicine residency following medical school.
