Dr. Neil Desai earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Houston and his medical degree from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
In practice since 2012, Dr. Desai is board certified in general surgery and treats adult and senior patients (18 and older). His primary clinical interests include open endovascular management of carotid disease, aortic disease, limb salvage and hemodialysis access. He speaks Hindi and Gujarati.
Taking a conservative approach to treatment, Dr. Desai strives to offer his patients the best options available. He makes himself accessible and is very responsive to patients’ questions. As a vascular surgeon, he helps his patients manage their complex conditions and provide life-changing therapy.
An assistant professor of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at McGovern Medical School, Dr. Desai has authored several peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters on vascular surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society for Vascular Surgery, Southern Association for Vascular Surgery and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Desai enjoys doing home projects, playing the drums and spending time with his wife and twin boys.
