Policies and Procedures
Non-Discriminatory Statement
It is the policy of the Memorial Hermann Radiography Program to provide

Student
Handbook
A copy of the Student
Handbook, which includes policies and procedures regarding the program,
is available for review by each applicant during the interview process. Policies will be reviewed with accepted students during orientation.
Policies regarding
sick time, professional conduct, graduation requirements, dress code,
pregnancy, and additional topics are included. A Clinical Education
Handbook containing policies related to clinical experience and education
is also available. Applicants are encouraged to review these handbooks
and ask questions.

Technical
Performance Standards
Any student accepted
into the program must be physically capable of performing the occupational
tasks safely, accurately and promptly:
- Lift, move and
transport patients (from bed to wheelchair/stretcher or from wheelchair/stretcher
to radiographic table) without causing undue pain or discomfort to
the patient or self.
- Position patients
for various radiographic examinations without injury to the patient.
- Move x-ray equipment,
including fixed and mobile units, into proper positions.
- Respond instantly
to emergency situations that may jeopardize a patient’s physical
state if speedy care is not administered.
- Evaluate written
requisitions for radiographic procedures.
- Explain each
procedure and give effective instructions to patients.
- Obtain medical
histories of patients and communicate this information to radiologists.
- Evaluate radiographic
images in relation to exposure factors, image quality and proper
positioning of anatomical parts.
- Transport mobile
equipment to assigned areas of the hospital in a timely and careful
manner.
- Perform venipuncture
and inject contrast media.
- Adjust positioning
and technical factors for trauma and pathology.
- Work effectively
and courteously with others and as a member of a medical team.
