Your Room

What to Bring
To ensure a smooth admission process, bring the following:

  • Insurance identification card, Social Security card or Medicare card (if applicable)
  • List of all medications you are taking, as well as any food or medication allergies
  • Personal items such as toiletries and reading materials

Some personal belongings require special care. Ask your nurse for a denture cup for your dentures and a personal belonging bag for any other items you may need to store. Be sure your name is on the cup or bag.

We cannot accept responsibility for valuables left in your room. Please leave money, jewelry and credit cards with a family member or leave them at home. If you must keep your valuables with you, arrangements can be made by a staff member to use the hospital safe. Any items you choose to keep in your possession are your responsibility.

Parking
Refer to the "Directions and Parking" links on each of the Location pages.

Your Room
We hope you will be comfortable in your room. Your bed has a control button that enables you to raise or lower it. Your room will be cleaned and disinfected regularly. In an effort to conserve energy, your linens will be changed every other day unless they are soiled. If your linens require changing, notify your nurse.

In facilities where they may be a limited number of private rooms, all private rooms are assigned based on current availability. If you desire a private room, or if you are a member of a Memorial Hermann membership program, please make your request upon admission. Since insurance companies pay only semi-private rates, you will be asked to make payment arrangements with the Business Office if you are not a member of one of our membership programs.

Reaching a Staff Member
The remote control device near your bed has a “call” button. When you press this button, someone will respond over the intercom or in person. There is also a call button in your bathroom.

Translation Services
Translation services are available for all languages. The patient or family representitive should ask a nurse for assistance.

Watching TV
The control buttons for your TV are located on the same remote as the call button. Please be considerate of your roommate by keeping the volume at a level that does not disturb him or her.

Using Your Telephone

  • Local calls Dial “9” + the area code and number.
  • Long-distance calls From Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, dial the hospital operator. All others, dial “9” to get an outside line, then dial “0.” The operator will assist you with placing the call with your calling card or credit card.
  • To call inside the hospital Dial the four or five-digit extension.
  • Receiving calls Family and friends may call the main number to the hospital and ask to be transferred to your room. Or you may give them your direct extension.

Meals
If you are on a regular or modified diet, you may select your next day’s meals from a menu delivered each morning on your breakfast tray.

For more information, please ask your nurse.
