Hand sanitizer is a good option only when soap and water aren't available. But sanitizers don't eliminate all types of germs that can make you sick and they're not as good at removing harmful chemicals such as pesticides and heavy metals. Besides that, many people don't use enough sanitizer or they wipe it off before it has time to dry.
