Hospice is a level of care for patients with a terminal diagnosis. Hospice care can be delivered in a home setting, as well as in our inpatient unit. The goal of hospice is to keep patients comfortable at the end of their lives. When navigating the stages of death, many people have one or more of the following concerns:
- Feeling pain and other debilitating symptoms
- Being a burden
- Bankrupting loved ones
- Worrying about how loved ones will deal with death and how they will fare in the future
- Dealing with loneliness, depression, grief, sadness or despair
- Being supported by machines
- Feeling that you are not ready to die
- Losing control of life
- Having a fear of dying or what lies beyond death
The hospice team is comprised of experienced clinicians who assist you and your loved ones to reduce or eliminate these concerns. Our focus is to alleviate physical, emotional and spiritual suffering so that you and your loved ones can focus on greater concerns.
About Memorial Hermann Hospice
At the Memorial Hermann Hospice inpatient location, we have 15 beds with an average length of stay being 3-5 days. Once a doctor has determined that you or a loved one has a terminal illness, they will give you a doctor’s order to be admitted to hospice care. Tours of our inpatient hospice facility are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by appointment or walk-in.
Although we offer an inpatient facility, the majority of our patients prefer to choose our home hospice services, which are available in patient homes, a personal care home or nursing home.
Memorial Hermann Hospice is accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice.
