Pediatric Hospitalists
Our medical staff hospitalists are pediatric generalists who supervise the care of most general pediatric patients in the Children's Center and some patients on the Pediatric Special Care Unit. Physicians affiliated with our pediatric hospitalist group meet with parents, direct nursing care and provide general pediatric advice and consultation to specialists, such as surgeons and neurologists.
A pediatric hospitalist will see your child daily during hospitalization and remain in close contact with your child's primary care physician. Decisions about your child's medical care and treatment will be made jointly by you, the hospitalist, your primary care physician and any other professionals involved in the care of your child.
Having hospitalists on site at all times means prompt response in case of emergencies or changes in your child's condition. Our team of hospitalists will help you and your child through a smooth recovery process by following up on tests, adjusting treatment needs and coordinating your child's care.
As faculty members at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, the pediatric hospitalists teach medical students and pediatric residents who provide care at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. The medical school's Division of Community and General Pediatrics includes 25 faculty members, all of whom see patients at the hospital.
