Volunteers are an extension of our hospital and have always been a valuable and necessary part of Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. A summer junior volunteer program fosters the spirit of volunteerism in young people's lives. A number of our volunteers have been here since the hospital opened. Health Occupational Student Association
Through this high school clinical rotation program, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital supports students interested in entering the medical profession.
Administered by the Katy Independent School District, the program provides students an insider's view of the hospital and the medical profession. The training program functions as a clinical rotation for students.
After participating in the program, students have gone on to nursing school, for example, and even come back to Katy Hospital to work. Interested students should contact the school district at 281-396-6300.
Community Health Education Seminars
As part of its mission to educate and promote good health, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital sponsors community health education seminars.
A wide range of topics is presented, including Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, AARP Driver Safety Program, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome and Diabetes, among many others.For more information, call 713-222-CARE (2273).
Monthly Blood Drives
Giving the gift of life is easy at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. Blood drives are sponsored from noon - 7 p.m. the second Monday of every month. Donors should go to the Professional Building, Room 207, at 5618 Medical Center Drive. For more information, call 713-222-CARE (2273).
Meals for Society St. Stephen Church
For 20 years, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital has contributed to this free meal program by providing food for approximately 75 free meals a month and 35 to 55 discounted meals a day. Volunteers come to the hospital, pack the food and then deliver it to those who need it most. For more information, call 281-391-3763.
Velodrome Youth Bicyclist Program
Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital participates in a community youth bicycle safety program sponsored by Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and the City of Houston.
The program is located at the Alkek Velodrome, located in Katy near Barker Cypress. The Velodrome is a nationally known cycling venue, where professional teams compete and train.
The program teaches youth the importance and techniques necessary to bike and race safely. For more information, call 281-646-7790.
