At Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, we offer a coordinated approach to breast health with services for preventive care, early detection, accurate diagnosis, treatment and ongoing emotional support. With its spa-like environment and convenient access, the new 7,500-square-foot Bobetta Lindig Breast Center located in Medical Plaza 4 is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art center with a full range of advanced screening and diagnostic services.
For women getting a routine mammogram or for those referred for a breast lump or other abnormality, the new Bobetta Lindig Breast Center will mean early answers, the best treatment options available and emotional support in an intimate setting.
The center’s opening was supported by a gift from Bill and Bobetta Lindig. Bill Lindig, a prostate cancer survivor, was treated at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. As they decided where to donate their philanthropic dollars, the Lindigs recalled the grueling week they spent waiting for Bill’s cancer diagnosis and wanted to make a difference for people like them who are facing a cancer diagnosis. Their generous gift will help support personalized breast care for the many people diagnosed with this disease every year who seek treatment at the center.
Services Provided
Digital Mammography
Advanced digital mammography may help detect breast cancer earlier. For women who are under 50, pre- or perimenopausal or have very dense breast tissue, this new technology may be more effective. Digital mammography allows the radiologist to view images on a computer screen and enhance, magnify or optimize them for further evaluation.
Breast Ultrasound
Using high-frequency sound waves, breast ultrasound can determine whether a lesion is a solid tumor or a fluid-filled cyst. It is especially useful in evaluating suspicious areas in the breast tissue of younger women, which tends to be more dense. Using the latest in ultrasound technology, radiologists can detect tumors as small as 2 to 3 millimeters in diameter.
Breast Ultrasound-Guided Needle Biopsy
This technique may be used to obtain tissue samples from areas where masses are seen in ultrasound. Ultrasound is used to guide the needle for increased precision in removing the tissue sample.
Stereotactic Biopsy
This innovative non-surgical biopsy method uses a computer-guided needle to remove a breast tissue sample.
Digital Bone Densitometry
A helpful tool in diagnosing osteoporosis, this procedure measures bone mineral density to identify bone strength and weakness.
